Able Counseling & Associates has been offering Domestic Violence Classes for more than 20 years in Cleveland, Ohio. We are now pleased to announce online classes are now available! The purpose of DV program is to educate the participant about problem of Domestic Violence especially as is elated to domestic assault on women and children; we seek to reduce violence as well as create the safest environment for families!

Able Counseling employs counseling approach and some aspects of Duluth Model in addressing Domestic Violence!  Our approach is open to adapting to the evolving way of thinking on how a society pts to together to end domestic violence.


Able Counseling  follow closely The Duluth Model approach:

 The blame is taken off the victim and placed the accountability for abuse on the offender.

 -sharing policies and procedures for holding offenders accountable and keeping victims safe across all agencies in the criminal and civil justice systems from 911 to the courts.

- The voices of the battered in the creation of those policies and procedures given priority.

-Believes that battering is a pattern of actions used to intentionally control or dominate an intimate partner and actively works to change societal conditions that support men’s use of tactics of power and control over women.

-Offers change opportunities for offenders through court-ordered educational groups for batterers.

-Have ongoing discussions between criminal and civil justice agencies, community members and victims to close gaps and improve the community’s response to battering.

If a Court and legal entity requests you to take this class, we will provide a certificate upon completion of 8 classes and above. Anger Management eight classes Certificate

This course is made up of 8 classes and each class lasts 1 hour.

Each session focuses on a separate facet of anger; Participants can only receive certificate after finishing all the 8 sessions.

Projected Outcome of the program

During each session you will be given information about anger and how

to manage its impact in a more constructive and effective way.

Week 1:  Introduction & Definition of anger

The aim of the first week is for you to be able to understand more about

your own anger and  factors which can make it worse to manage.

We will give you information about anger and what causes it as well as

looking at preparing to change and thinking about goals for change. This

class suggests emergency control strategies.

Week 2: Anger: Recognition & Control Issues

In the second session the class will talk about ways to help you manage your

anger. We look at how to recognize the early warning signs of anger

and quick ways of controlling your anger by looking in more detail at

ideas from the first class.

Week 3: Personality:  strategies to manage anger

In the third class we continue to look at ways of managing anger by understanding aggressive, passive and assertive behavior


Participants will learn how to be more assertiveness, taking care of yourself and a number of other helpful strategies

Week 4: Anger: Effect on a Relationship

In the fourth class we will look how to manage anger and cultivate healthy relationships and to develop more helpful ways of communicating thought and feelings.


Week 5-6: Anger: recognizing & changing unhelpful thoughts

In the fifth class we will look at identifying and challenging unhelpful

thoughts that trigger anger. We also consider ways to develop more

helpful thoughts about situations that currently lead to anger.

Week 7-8: Anger: Effective to Control of winning

 continuing on managing anger successfully and in final class we will talk about specific situations, personalities and behaviors that can make it hard to control and manage anger constructively, we will employ name it claim it tame it technics to guide the discussions.








Approved Anger,Domestic Violence & Parenting Classes 

Domestic violence, parenting classes and, anger Management classes  are court approved to meet all Domestic Violence, Anger Management, Battery and Court Deferred Judgment needs. 







 Online Classes (Approval needed)




Referrals or prior approval by  court or employer is required to enroll in the online anger and domestic violence classes. The classes are designed for those individuals who may find it difficult to attend drug, anger management, or domestic violence / battery classes at our two locations (Bedford Heights, (children) & University Heights) due to travel distances, a busy schedule, and other life commitments. This online course can be effective method to help acquire anger control tools.

1) Defendant who successfully completes deferred entry of judgment classes and stay out of trouble can have the original charges dismissed by the judge
